Code of Conduct — Singularity

A clear, zero-tolerance framework that keeps the Singularity hackathon safe, inclusive, and legally sound while we build toward the singularity point together.

Introduction

This Code of Conduct keeps Singularity safe, inclusive, and professional for every participant, mentor, judge, sponsor, volunteer, and organizer.

By joining the hackathon you agree to uphold these standards across all venues—physical or digital—and to follow college and event rules.

Expected Behavior
  • Communicate with respect and collaborate with empathy.
  • Include everyone—across gender, caste, religion, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, or background.
  • Contribute original work and participate ethically.
  • Follow college regulations and all Singularity event guidelines.
Unacceptable Behavior
  • Harassment, discrimination, hate speech, or bullying of any kind.
  • Plagiarism, intellectual property theft, or cheating.
  • Misrepresenting work or team members.
  • Disruptive, abusive, or threatening conduct.
  • Substance abuse within college or event premises (where applicable).
Anti-Harassment Policy
  • Zero tolerance for verbal, physical, or digital harassment.
  • Protection against retaliation for anyone who reports a concern.
  • Reports are handled confidentially by the organizers.
Reporting & Enforcement

Report issues directly to Singularity organizers (in person or via the designated reporting channel).

Organizers may investigate, issue warnings, disqualify teams, or remove individuals from the event. Decisions are final.

Intellectual Property

Participants keep ownership of their projects.

Singularity organizers may showcase projects for non-commercial promotional purposes.

All third-party tools, APIs, and datasets must be used in line with their licenses.

Indian Legal Compliance

Relevant references: Indian Penal Code (IPC), Information Technology Act, 2000, and Copyright Act, 1957.

Serious violations may attract legal consequences under Indian law.

Acceptance

Participation in Singularity implies acceptance of this Code of Conduct.

Organizers may amend the policy; continued participation signals acceptance of updates.
